A unique wedding tradition

Pixabay)

Wedding traditions are different from country to country. It’s normal in Jewish weddings, for example, for the bride and groom to break a glass with their feet. In Chinese weddings, the happy couple must raise a toast to every table at the dinner party. But in India, there is a custom that, to strangers, might seem odd. Before marrying their partner, some men and women have to marry a tree first.

According to Hindu astrology, a manglik is a person who is born when Mars and Saturn are both under the 7th house. Unfortunately, the belief is that these people are cursed. What’s more, they will also curse whomever they marry to an early death.

Luckily, there is a solution. To break the curse , the manglik is first married to a peepul tree. After the ceremony, the tree is then destroyed. With the curse lifted, the man or woman can then marry without fear. If you’re ever worried about your future wedding, just be thankful you don’t have to marry a plant first.
